About two years ago Em' filled a lawsuit against the New Zealand political party because of unlawful use of his music. Up until now there has not been any progress that was being made.
According to Rolling Stone the trial started Monday May 1st. This marks a huge step forward for the Detroit rapper.
Eminem's lawyer Gary Williams pointed out the significance of the song "Lose yourself" from the 8 Mile soundtrack from 2002. Gary Williams continued by stating “the licensing of the song has been extremely carefully controlled. Despite many requests, it has only rarely been licensed for advertising purposes. When licensed, it can command in the millions of dollars. That’s how valuable it is.”
The New Zealand party used an instrumental in an election ad back in 2004. This was the time Eminem's lawyers took on the legal process.
The trial is expected to last a week.
